The Pennsylvania House of Representatives’ Scholarship Program is open to all college-bound high school seniors who plan to attend a Pennsylvania college, university or career school.
In order to receive ongoing awards in years two through four, the student must:
1. Remain a legal resident of Pennsylvania
2. Remain enrolled as a full-time student at a Pennsylvania school
3. Maintain a grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) of:
a. 2.5 in the first year
b. 3.0 in each subsequent year (years 2-4)
Drexel University
A. William Salomone Scholarship
Annual awards for undergraduate students attending Drexel University who are majoring in History or Politics. Selection is based on academic merit. Due date, number of awards and award amount may vary. Nonrenewable.
Edinboro University
Juliet Lieber International Scholarship
The recipient of this award must be an international student enrolled full-time at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. The student must be a Political Science major or be involved in the study of International Relations and have a minimum QPA of 3.0. A selection committee appointed by the Department Chair of Political Science will conduct the scholarship award process.
Theo Sabin and Ludwig G. Meyer Public Service Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to a student majoring in political science at Edinboro University. The recipient must be enrolled full-time with a minimum of 64 earned credits and a minimum cumulative QPA of 3.0. The recipient must demonstrate financial need.
Kevin Maloney Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship was established by friends and family of Kevin Maloney, a well-known athlete and student at Cathedral Prep High School who was interested in Political Science and Public Service. It is awarded annually to an Edinboro University senior with a QPA of 3.3 or higher who has financial need and is a political science or pre-law major.
Luther V. Hendricks Memorial Scholarship
Luther V. Hendricks joined the Edinboro faculty in 1946-47 and had risen to the position of dean of the school of behavioral and social sciences before his death in 1970. Dr. Richard J. Gromen, Mr. Gregory D. Lessig, Mr. Harvey L. Heath, and the late Mr. Carl Wozniak, all faculty emeritus, originally established the Luther V. Hendricks Memorial Fund Committee in 1972 to “promote and foster excellence in social studies education at Edinboro State College,” as a result of a generous monetary gift by Mrs. Hendricks and members of the Hendricks family. The scholarship will be awarded to eligible students who are in their junior or senior year and are pursuing undergraduate degrees in the following academic disciplines: history/anthropology, political science/criminal justice, sociology, and economics. The award will rotate each year to the subsequent academic area. The recipient must be enrolled full-time, earned a minimum of 60 credits, and have a minimum QPA of 3.0. The scholarship can only be awarded during the fall and/or spring semesters and is not transferable. Financial aid may be a factor
Kevin J Jesteadt Memorial Scholarship
Kevin Jesteadt was a senior airman in the Air Force National Guard-171st Air Refueling Wing and was pursuing dual degrees as a full-time student at Edinboro University, majoring in chemistry/forensic science and secondary education. This scholarship was established in his honor by his mother, Cathy, and friends and family, to encourage the same commitment to education, and enthusiasm and zest for living that Kevin demonstrated during his short life. The recipient of this award must be an entering freshman, with preference given to a Slippery Rock High School graduate, with a minimum QPA of 3.0. The student must be a Criminal Justice major or secondary education major. For the purpose of this award, Criminal Justice major is to include Forensic Chemistry, Forensic Accounting and Political Science. The student must have exceptional character as demonstrated by volunteerism, work experience, and/or participation in community activities. Financial need is a factor.
Kurt Alan Sanders Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship was developed in memory of Kurt Alan Sanders by his mother, Ms. Susan Sanders, and friends and relatives. The scholarship was also established to encourage the same commitment to education community involvement that Kurt demonstrated during his life. This annual award will be made to an entering freshman, with preference given to a General McLane High School graduate, with a minimum QPA of 3.0. The student must be a Criminal Justice major; for the purpose of this award, Criminal Justice major is to include Forensic Chemistry, Forensic Accounting and Political Science. The student must have exceptional character as demonstrated by volunteerism, work experience, and/or participation in community activities. Financial need is a factor.
Holy Family University
The John and Mary Szczepanik Machowski Scholarship
This endowed scholarship, established by their now deceased son, Casimir J. Machowski, is given to a student who values the freedoms of a citizen of the United States and lives them responsibly. In particular, attention is given to those who by their actions demonstrate the values of: religious freedom, political involvement, or education.
Kutztown University
Student who is politically or civically involved in the university. Established to provide scholarship assistance to Kutztown University students in memory of Rosa Parks by David W. Jones ‘89, alumnus and member of the Council of Trustees, in recognition of the impact her legacy of civic and political involvement had on his college experience.
Mount Aloysius College offers special scholarships to baccalaureate students seeking a degree in History/Political Science. Each scholarship is valued at $4,000 over a four-year period ($1,000/yr).
Saint Vincent College
Alex G. McKenna Economic and Policy Scholarship Award
A $16,000 ($4,000 per year for four years) Scholarship for four years of undergraduate study at Saint Vincent College in persuit of a major offered by the Alex G. McKenna School of Business, Economics, and Government. The scholarship is funded by a grant from the Philip M. McKenna Foundation, Inc. of Latrobe, Pennsylvania.

First Preference to Female Political Science major. Selection by committee (no application).
Leo I. Shapiro Memorial Scholarship
Students must have completed 62 credits, major in history, public administration, or political science and have a minimum 3.0 QPA and demonstrate financial need. PA residency required.
York College of Pennsylvania
The Millard E. Gladfelter Award
Provides up to $1,000 to one or two students each academic year to support research and special projects focused on critical issues in social, environmental, economic, or political affairs. Selected students work with faculty on a yearlong research project earning six credits of independent study.
The Ida G. Gladfelter Fellowship
Provides up to $1,000 to one student each academic year to support research and special projects focused on critical issues in social, environmental, economic, or political affairs. Selected students work with faculty on a yearlong research project earning six credits of independent study.
Khana Award
Recognizes academic achievement in International Studies.
Kenneth S. Hatch Award
Provides credit for purchase of textbooks at the York College Bookstore for students who exhibit academic merit and financial need.
