Dr. Edward M. Allen, Jr. Scholarship in Political Science
This scholarship is awarded to a rising junior or senior political science major each spring semester. Criteria include a 3.25+ GPA, at least nine hours of political science course work completed, rising junior or above standing, extracurricular leadership, and financial need.. The award is named after one of the most outstanding teachers in the history of ASU who served in the department for over 25 years.
ASU Local Government Alumni Association
Two scholarships are awarded each year, one at the undergraduate level and one at the graduate level, for students majoring in political science with a concentration in Town, City, County, Management. The recipients are selected by the faculty in public administration in conjunction with the officers of the alumni association. The selections are made in the fall during the Associations annual conference.

Helen Rhyne Marvin Scholarship
This scholarship has been created by friends of Helen Rhyne Marvin, a former history teacher at Ashley High School and Gaston College and an eight-term senator. It will be awarded to a senior at Ashbrook High School planning to major in history or political science and attend either Gaston College or one of the 16 universities of the UNC system. Captain Elizabeth Lord Baldwin Endowed Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship was established in memory of Elizabeth Lord Baldwin. Ms. Baldwin was a 1986 UNC Pembroke graduate with a B.A. in Political Science. She was an involved and active student. After graduation, Ms. Baldwin excelled in the US Army. The recipient(s) will be a junior and/or senior maintaining a 3.0 or better QPA. A North Carolina resident is preferred. The recipient will be a political science major in the Department of Political Science or a history major in the Department of History. Consideration may be given to an education major who has declared a major in political science or history. Applicants will also have a demonstrated strong work ethic, personal achievement, and be in need of financial assistance

The Stephanie Fitzgerald David Political Science/Public Administration Scholarship
was created to honor Stephanie Fitzgerald David, who as a career woman, mom, and wife, inspired this endowment. The recipient must have been accepted into the Department of Public and International Affairs, must maintain a GPA of 3.00 to be eligible for award or renewal, and demonstrate a current personal interest and commitment to community affairs, non-profit volunteerism, and community or public service.
The Marla Rice-Evans Political Science Scholarship
was created by Dave Robertson, Mark Griffis and friends to honor Marla Rice-Evans for her efforts to promote academic excellence. The recipient shall have been accepted into the Department of Public and International Affairs with a major in political science and a minor in international affairs and shall have earned at least a 3.50 GPA in at least 6 hours in the international affairs minor curriculum

is awarded to a political science major with financial need. Candidates must be able to demonstrate creativity, curiosity, and academic worthiness. Current award is $1200 per year (renewable for four years); amount of future awards are determined by annual market conditions. The Bryan Scholarships were created by his family to honor of his service as a Wilmington City Council member.
The James E. L. Wade Scholarship
in political science and history are awarded based on merit to political science majors who have a B average or above on university coursework, and financial need. Current award is $2000 per year (renewable for four years); amount of future awards are determined by annual market conditions. The Wade Scholarships were created by Mr. Wade, who was an early business leader and former Wilmington mayor.
West Carolina University
The Channing C. Carpenter Scholarship Fund
This endowment was established by friends and family of Dr. Chan Carpenter, who joined the WCU faculty in 1967. Dr. Carpenter taught constitutional law and American government sub-specialties such as the presidency. He was selected SGA’s “Man of the Year” in 1969.
