New Mexico Federation Of Republican Women’s Scholarship

The NMFRW scholarship has been established to assist a deserving female student from New Mexico to further her education at a college, university or vocational school in New Mexico.  $1000 cash award for 1st place and $250 for 2nd place. The amount of the scholarship will be $500 for 1st place and $250 for second place for the fall semester following the awarding of the scholarship.  A like amount will be awarded for teh second semester contigent upon successful completion of funding provision #3 under funding procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Be a resident of New Mexico
  • Be a registered Republican or the daughter of a registered Republican if under the age of 18.
  • Be a member of the graduating class and accepted for enrollment in an institution of higher learning in New Mexico in the year in which she applies (home schoolers are eligible for consideration)
  • Be enrolled as a fulltime student at a college, university or vocational school in New Mexico.
  • Have a 3.0 or better scholastic average based on 4.0 system.
  • Plan to study government, political science, international relations or history.  Consideration will be given to participation in political activities.

Starkey Scholarship

  • Description
    This is an endowed gift from the estate of Ms. Garnet Anne Gunter Starkey to establish the Clyde E. Starkey and Garnet G. Starkey Scholarship Award Fund. A $3,000 award rotates among four departments: Communication & Journalism, Foreign Languages and Literature, Political Science, and Spanish and Portuguese. This fund will end in 2019 at which time the money reverts to the Library division of International Studies. Funds are available to C&J in 2002, 2006, 2010, 2014 and perhaps 2018.

    This year, the scholarship amounts to $3,000.This is an approximate amount and it may be awarded to more than one student.

    This scholarship is awarded every four years.
