Eligibility: Must be a fully admitted student in any of the majors within the Department of Political Science and Criminal Justice; must be of senior standing by the end of the previous spring semester (associate degree students must have at least 45 hours by the end of the spring semester); must have completed a minimum of 12 hours within the Department of Political Science and Criminal Justice; Must have a minimum grade point average of 3.00; must have interest in pursuing a career within the law enforcement field.
University of Louisville
The McConnell Scholarships are renewable for four years for promising young leaders who plan to major or minor in Political Science through the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Louisville. The scholarships are normally for tuition and a modest stipend for books. Exact amounts are determined by the Selections Committee.
Scholarships are awarded to talented, deserving high school seniors reflecting the state’s geographic diversity. The goal of the McConnell Scholarship Program is to train Kentucky’s future generation of leaders through the following programs and activities of the Center:
- Lectures and seminars conducted by successful leaders and experts;
- A broad education in political science and the liberal arts;
- Practical internships to help students develop the knowledge, values, and skills they need to be exemplary leaders for Kentucky.
