Kansas County Clerks’ and Election Scholarship
The KS County Clerk’s Association is taking scholarship applications from those students that are majoring in Journalism, Political Science or Communications. The Scholarships are available to High School Seniors or a Freshman or Sophomore in college. Applications are due on or before April 6, and need to be mailed.
Kansas State University
The Samarrai Middle Eastern Students Scholarship
Statement of Eligibility: This scholarship may be awarded to any graduate or undergraduate student of U.S. Citizenship majoring in Political Science with potential interest in Middle East-American relations. The nominees shall be students recommended by the faculty of the Department of Political Science. Academic excellence shall not be the criterion for this scholarship, but it is understood that the usual standards of selection applied by the General Scholarship committee of Kansas State University shall be in forced (minimum of 2.5 overall GPA).
The Sheikh Ahmed Zaki Yamani Scholarship
Statement of Eligibility: This scholarship is to provide financial assistance to academically outstanding graduate or undergraduate students interested in the study of Arab culture, the Arab World, and Arab-American Relations.
The Button Political Science Scholarship
Statement of Eligibility: The recipient of this scholarship shall be a student properly enrolled in the College of Arts & Sciences at Kansas State University majoring in Political Science who has an expressed interest in public service. Selection will be made on the basis of scholarship potential and ability or financial need. In all aspects, these funds will be used without restriction of sex, race, handicap, religion, or national origin.
The Reba Cobb Memorial Scholarship
Statement of eligibility: The recipient of this scholarship shall be a woman student at Kansas State University, selected during her junior year of study, majoring in Political Science, and who, in the judgment of the General Scholarship Committee and representatives of the Department of Political Science at Kansas State University, best meets the qualifications of scholarship. Determination will be primarily based on the highest overall academic grade average attained by a junior woman majoring in Political Science at the end of each calendar year. Financial need shall not be a factor in awarding this scholarship. The award is intended to assist women majoring in Political Science, and thus, they must be actively enrolled in Political Science during the year.
The Louis H. Douglas Scholarship
Statement of eligibility: The recipient of this scholarship shall be a student at Kansas State University in his/her junior or senior year enrolled as a Political Science major who shows evidence of academic excellence. In all other respects, the scholarship shall be general in nature and must be awarded without restrictions concerning sex, age, race, creed, or national origin. Financial need may be considered but shall not be determinative.
The Joseph Hajda Student Scholarship
Statement of Eligibility: The recipients of this scholarship will be undergraduate or graduate degree students properly enrolled in the Department of Political Science in the College of Arts and Sciences as Kansas State University. Preference will be given to students who demonstrate financial need, have excellent academic performance, and demonstrate a strong international commitment. In all other respects, these funds will be awarded without restriction to race, gender, national origin, religion, age, sexual orientation or disability.
The Donald R. Hill Scholarship
Statement of Eligibility: For a graduate student in Political Science, non-certificate. If an appropriate graduate student is not available, the scholarship may be awarded to an undergraduate. Financial need may be considered but shall not be determinative.
The Orma Linford Memorial Scholarship
Statement of eligibility: The recipient of this scholarship shall be a student at Kansas State University in his/her junior or senior year enrolled as a Political Science major with a pre-law curriculum designation who shows evidence of academic excellence. The scholarship will be awarded without restrictions regarding gender, age, physical handicap, race, creed, or national origin. Financial need may be considered but shall not be determinative.

Rockhurst University
founded by Louis B. McGee in honor of President Harry S Truman on his eightieth birthday for students majoring in political science or social sciences.
Wichita State
Eligibility: Possess a good academic record; enroll in a minimum of 12 credit hours while holding the scholarship; have junior or senior standing while on scholarship; pursue a broad liberal arts education; be an active contributor to the extracurricular and intellectual life of the University and of the Department of Political Science; and maintain a 3.0 grade point average in political science courses and in all courses taken. Stipend: varies with economic circumstances, but it should be a minimum of $2,000. The scholarship may be renewed each semester after the holder is favorably evaluated for conformity to scholarship requirements. Students may receive the scholarship for up to four semesters or until they graduate, whichever comes first, as long as they satisfy conditions of the award.
The Kathlien Edmiston Scholarship
Eligibility: Consideration will be given to students whose potential for academic success in college is indicated by their high school records and/or appropriate aptitude tests and to those who evidence leadership qualities; first consideration will be given to female students who qualify for the award. The stipend varies with economic circumstances, but it will usually be at least $500 and may be renewed until the recipient graduates or completes four years of support from the scholarship, whichever comes first, provided that the recipient maintains a record of academic excellence and progress toward an undergraduate political science degree.
The Lee and Helen Kamen Scholarship
Eligibility: Awarded to a student who will have sophomore standing while holding the scholarship with consideration given to high school performance, college potential as indicated by aptitude tests, and leadership qualities, as well as academic performance during the applicant’s first year of university study. The stipend will vary with economic circumstances, but it will usually be $750 or more for the academic year. This scholarship is not renewable.
The Priscilla and Robert N. Partridge Scholarship
Eligibility: U.S. citizenship; consideration will be given to students with excellent high school records, whose potential for college success is indicated by appropriate aptitude tests, and who have demonstrated leadership qualities. The stipend varies with economic circumstances, but it will usually be at least $1,000 and will be renewed each term (summers excepted) as long as the recipient maintains a record of academic excellence and progress toward a political science degree.
Department of Political Science Scholarships
The Department may also make additional scholarship awards to students who have demonstrated academic success. Sophomores, juniors, and seniors are potentially eligible for these awards. Stipends usually range from $250 to $1,000 per semester, depending upon the credentials of the awardee and upon the availability of funds. They may be renewed for a second semester, but they are seldom given for a longer period.
