Washington, DC – January 29, 2010
Do you want to get a taste of the political life DC has to offer? In the George Washington University’s Semester in Washington Politics Program, you have the opportunity to get a first-hand taste of a wide range of political careers, including political campaigning, fundraising, voter targeting, media consulting, and many, many more. There is a wide range of internship opportunities in anywhere from the White House, to the Capitol Building, to Public Interest Firms, and News Associations. The program has one staff member whose sole job is to secure internships for students – The program has a 100 percent placement rate.
When you return to your home campus, you’ll know what it takes to win elections, to pass legislation and to influence public opinion. More importantly, you’ll know what professional options are available to you as a congressional staffer, campaign manager, press secretary, lobbyist, pollster, media producer, journalist or fundraiser. You’ll be better informed about how politics works and more aware of how you fit into that process.
The application deadline for the Summer 2010 semester is March 15. If you would like more information on the program and all that it has to offer, please click here. To hear what other program alumni have said about their time in DC, check out the video below.
