Fall 2009 Education Pioneers DC Metro Area Intern Job Description

Position Overview:

This position provides a unique opportunity to join an enthusiastic and entrepreneurial team and be exposed to various aspects of urban education reform. The DC Metro Area Intern will provide ongoing support in a number of areas, with opportunities for more major projects as well. Key projects driven by the intern include the following:

Database Management and Support

  • Revise and maintain database of organizations and individuals associated with Education Pioneers
  • Build DC Metro Area database by adding organizations and individuals as identified
  • Utilize tools in the database system to enhance overall organization and system management

Logistical Coordination for Events

  • Assist with managing the logistics of events, including ordering catering & supplies, set up, and preparation of materials
  • Coordinate sign-up and logistics for Alumni networking and supplemental events
  • Attend DC Alumni events (optional), which discuss key areas of education reform and sometimes feature speakers panel of top practitioners currently working in education reform

Additional Opportunities, Possibilities, and Responsibilities

  • Manage the Local Online Community Webpage and update with pertinent information, career opportunities, events, and announcements
  • Provide general office support as necessary (making copies, filing, assisting with mailings, etc.)
  • Build a resource binder of education reform articles
  • Support research efforts in development/ fundraising
  • Offer additional ideas for projects that will enhance or support our program
