Job Offer – Campaign Field Manager
 

 
Primary Function/Purpose:

The Campaign Field Manager is responsible for working with affiliates to advance our federal policy priorities and build grassroots power for implementation of PPFA’s national advocacy campaigns.  This position will work closely with the Associate Director for Campaigns and Constituencies to determine strategic program planning and implementation and is a main point of contact for affiliate public affairs staff and is responsible for ensuring affiliates have the resources necessary to participate in national campaigns.  The Campaign Field Manager will assist in the assessment of affiliate training, advocacy and technical needs and make recommendations on how to support the states.  Additionally, the Campaigns Manager will assist in developing comprehensive campaign toolkits, weekly campaign reports, developing plans for targeted affiliate outreach, and managing materials distribution.
 
 
 
Duties and Responsiblities:

  • Maintain the public policy presence on the PPFA/PPAF Extranet and coordinate with national office staff for content migration and upkeep.
  • Coordinate collateral materials development and distribution in support of national campaigns.
  • Develop and work with affiliates and PPFA staff to maintain a uniform reporting system to communicate progress of national campaign benchmarks to affiliates and other stakeholders.
  • Works with Associate Director to help implement federal campaigns in targeted states.
  • Provide support for affiliate/state office 501(c)(4)s through the Planned Parenthood Action Fund (PPAF) to advance our electoral agenda.
  • Implement processes to monitor state/affiliate progress of national campaign plans.
  • Provide technical assistance, assessment and training in voter file and supporter list management in conjunction with national office technical and e-organizing staff and/or consultants.
  • Assist in the development and on-site facilitation of national meetings, including but not limited to the Policy and Organizing Summit and National Conference.
  • Maintain current and accurate files, track affiliate and state office activity to provide weekly reports, and monitor work-related financial expenditures.
  • Monitor progress toward campaign goals by target states/affiliates for advocacy campaigns and focus on helping states that are struggling to attain goals by working with appropriate staff.

Qualifications and Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree, plus additional related college courses or professional training, and 3 to 5 years of progressive work experience.
  • Must be excellent grassroots organizer; adept at consulting, advising, and training others to increase grassroots activities and strategies (Volunteer or paid campaign experience is highly useful and valuable).
  • Must be proficient trainer and communicator and possess assessment and analytical skills that allow effective coaching and consulting.

A researcher with a Masters or PhD that has considerable experience designing qualitative research methodologies and running large research projects.  Preferably well versed in current evaluation frameworks and methodologies and experience working on international evaluation studies.  Also must be very familiar with the Paris Declaration. 

Description: 

Khulisa is part of a consortium that has been short-listed to conduct an independent evaluation of the USG in relation to the Paris Declaration.   All of the work is based in Washington DC.  The purpose is to assess the relevance and effectiveness of the Paris Declaration and its contribution to aid effectiveness and ultimately to development effectiveness, including poverty alleviation. The evaluation is expected to document the results achieved through implementing the Paris Declaration, highlight the barriers and constraints which might limit its effectiveness and impacts, and strengthen “the knowledge base as to the ways in which development partnerships can more effectively and efficiently help maximize development results through aid in different contexts -including varying degrees of ‘fragility’.

We are seeking a senior researcher who could lead the team methodologically, and in particular could direct the qualitative analysis of the 300 interviews that have to be conducted at 8 United States Government agencies (State, USAID, MCC, HSS and four to be determined).  The senior researcher would have to be able to use qualitative analysis software and have very strong writing skills, as the report will first be presented to Secretary of State Clinton and then to OECD DAC.  Our consortium has a strong team of interviewers (many retired USG employees) but they lack the required methodological rigor.

Duration:

The assignment is likely to begin in mid-January and has to be completed by late September.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Manage and implement Donordigital’s work with select clients
  • Develop online fundraising/advocacy/promotion plans with specific benchmarks and deliverables, including e-mail newsletters and solicitations, fundraising appeals, advocacy and advertising campaigns, Website development and more.
  • Develop and nurture relationship with client and frequently communicate progress via phone, e-mail, written progress reports and on-site meetings.
  • Identify, set-up and maintain appropriate ASP relationships for donation processing, e-mail marketing, etc.
  • Coordinate creative services, including writing/editing Web fundraising copy, promotional copy and e-mail newsletters and solicitations, and supervising production of design work.
  • Work with Donordigital staff to manage various aspects of client work.
  • Keep up to date on online fundraising and advocacy technology, nonprofit development, and commercial technology and techniques that can be applied to nonprofit development.

Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 2 years experience in one of the following areas of work: advocacy, fundraising, electoral campaigning, project management, event planning, Internet marketing, direct response.
  • Terrific project management skills
  • Extremely detail-oriented
  • Excellent communicator, strong writer and speaker
  • Self-starter, good at working independently
  • Flexible, able to meet short deadlines and thrive in a fast paced environment
  • Demonstrated knowledge and interest in online fundraising, e-mail marketing and advocacy
  • Excellent computer skills – Word, Excel, database, Internet
  • Technology-oriented, with the ability and desire to understand how online fundraising, marketing and advocacy technology works (Note: This is not a Web development position.)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with GetActive, Kintera Sphere, DIA or Convio ASP
  • Basic HTML and other web tools experience
  • Personal Characteristics:
  • Positive “can-do” attitude
  • Pro-active problem solver
  • Committed to progressive social issues, including the environment, foreign policy, aid and development, human rights, women’s rights, GLBT issues, electoral politics, etc.
  • Willingness to travel, mainly to Washington, DC, and New York, at least a few days per quarter
